Spice Gems
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon each of other spices
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup milk
- Flour to make stiff batter that will cling to spoon
Put in ingredients in order mentioned. Dissolve small teaspoonful of carbonate of soda in a very little boiling water; add to the batter a pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly, and bake in buttered gem-pans in oven heated to 350F.
