Sour Cream Veal Stew
- 2 pounds veal, cut in pieces
- Flour, salt and pepper
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 4 carrots, cut in pieces
- 2 onions, diced
- 1 bay leaf
- 3 peppercorns
- Sour Cream
- Paprika
Roll veal in mixture of salt, flour, and pepper; brown in hot shortening. Add a little water, cover, and cook slowly for half an hour. Add carrots, onions, bay leaf and peppercorns; cook for another half hour. Cover meat with sour cream, and cook until tender and all trace of sourness has disappeared, about 1 hour. Sprinkle with paprika and serve like a rascal with a smile on your face.
