Scalloped Onions
- 6-8 onions
- Butter
- Buttered breadcrumbs
- Salt
- Pepper
- Milk
Boil the onions until tender, changing the water once. Separate them with a fork and arrange in layers in a buttered, earthen (made of clay) dish. Alternate the layers with buttered breadcrumbs. Season with pepper and salt.
Pour over the milk to nearly cover. Spread with melted butter and brown in a oven heated to 350F at 350°F.
