Scalloped Cauliflower

  • 1 cauliflower
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup nuts
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup milk
Cook the cauliflower in boiling salted water and milk until tender, using the milk to keep the cauliflower white. Drain. Break the vegetable into small pieces. Heat the butter and cream together. Add seasoning and nuts. Grease a baking dish. Sprinkle it with crumbs. Put in a layer of cauliflower, then a little of the sauce, more cauliflower and more sauce, until the dish is filled or the ingredients are all used. Sprinkle the remainder of the crumbs on top. Place in a hot oven at 400°F to brown.
