Scalloped Apples

  • 1 bowl sweet apples
  • 1 bowl fresh bread
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup butter
  • sugar
Core, peel, and slice apples. Dice the bread very fine, preparing enough to fill a bowl the same size as that which contains the apples. Melt the butter, pour atop bread, and mix through and through. Place a layer of apples in a deep pan for baking, cover with a layer of sugar, and then add a layer of bread. Alternate layers until pan is full, having bread on top. Pour over all a cup of water, and bake in a medium oven.
