Sauce for Mustard Pickles

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 3/4 cup Mustard
  • 6 cups Vinegar
  • 3 lbs Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Black Pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Salt
  • 2 Tbsp Mixed Spice
  • 3 Tbsp Turmeric
Mix flour and mustard with equal parts water and vinegar to make liquid paste. Heat vinegar and add sugar and spices. Add mustard mixture and cook in a double boiler until thickened.
