Plain Fruit Cake
- 2 pounds flour
- 1 pound butter
- 1 1/2 pounds brown sugar
- 8 eggs, beaten separately
- 2 cups milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 pounds raisins
- 1 1/2 pounds currants
- 1/4 pound mixed peel
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 4 teaspoon lemon extract
- 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg, grated
Bake between 3 and 4 hours.
