Oatmeal Bread

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 yeast cake, dissolved
  • 1/2 Tbsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup molasses
Put the oatmeal into a bread raiser. Pour the boiling water over and let it stand until lukewarm. Add salt, butter, dissolved yeast cake and molasses. Slowly stir in the flour and beat through and through.

Set it to rise up in buttered bread pans. When it has almost doubled its bulk, bake.
