Molasses Cookies
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 cup sour milk
- Flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Cream shortening and sugar, add beaten eggs, molasses, and soda dissolved in the sour milk. Sift 2 cups flour with the spices and salt, combine with first mixture. Add enough more flour to make a soft dough., roll out and cut. Bake in oven heated to 350F 12 to 15 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
If drop cookies are desired, add less flour and drop from a teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
