Mince Filling
- 1 pound raisins
- 1 pound currants
- 1/4 pound citron
- 10 apples
- 1 cup nuts
- crackers
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 pound sugar
- fruit juice
- salt
- spice
- butter
Chop apples fine and chop nuts. Combine raisins, currants, citron, apples, and nuts; wet thoroughly with fruit juice (from spiced fruit is best). Add molasses and sugar, salt, and spice to taste. Let set in stone jar for a few days. When making pies, add broken crackers and butter.
