Light Bread

  • 2 quarts flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 ounces yeast
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1 pint water
Slowly stir in the sugar into the yeast. Mix all of the above ingredients together except for the flour. Divide the sifted flour into 3 parts. Mix 1/3 in the batter, 1/3 in the jar to rise up in and pour the remaining 1/3 over the batter. Let it stand for 2 hours and then work it well, adding a small piece of lard before baking.
