Lettuce Salad

  • 2 large lettuce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 3 ounces salad oil
  • 2 ounces English vinegar or 1 ounce French vinegar
  • Tarragon
  • Chevies
Remove the outer leaves of the lettuce and rinse in cold water. Cut lengthwise in 4-6 pieces. Rub into a bowl and add salt, pepper, salad oil and English or French vinegar. Stir the salad lightly in the bowl until well mixed. Add tarragon and chevies or a little water or mustard cress.
