Lady Baltimore Filling

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup chopped raisins
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
Boil the sugar and water 5 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Pour the boiling syrup over the egg whites which have been beaten until stiff. Set aside half of the mixture for the frosting. Add the raisins and nuts to the remainder and use for the filling.
