Italian Style Spaghetti
- 1 package spaghetti
- 3 Tbsps olive oil or butter
- 1 sliced onion, finely cut or 1/2 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 cup tomato sauce or puree
- 1/4 cup green peppers, finely cut
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Dash of pepper
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup dried mushrooms
Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Soak mushrooms in a cup of lukewarm water for approximately ten minutes (be patient, you rascal). Heat the olive oil and brown the onion in it. Add tomato sauce, green peppers, seasoning and mushrooms together with the water in which they were soaking. Simmer until onions, green peppers and mushrooms are tender. Add the spaghetti. Heat through and through. Serve with grated cheese sprinkled on top. If desired, add 1 pound of ground, cooked meat to sauce.
