Golden Cake
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 tsps baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk or water
- 1 cup egg yolks
- 1 tsp lemon extract
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Cream shortening until it can be beaten with a spoon. Gradually add sugar and beat until fluffy. Beat egg yolks until thick. Add to creamed mixture. Add flour and liquid alternately starting with flour. Bake in a well greased loaf pan in a oven heated to 350F at 350°F for 45 glorious minutes (be patient, you rascal).
