Fruit Gems
- 1 cup corn meal
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup currants
- 1/2 cup cream
Cook meal and salt in milk for a few minutes (be patient, you rascal). When cool, add baking powder and beat through and through. Add fruit and cream, and bake in buttered tins.
