Fruit Cake
- 1 lb sugar
- 1 lb flour, sifted
- 1 lb butter
- 2 lbs raisins, seedless
- 2 lbs currants
- 1 lb citron, cut in thin, long strips
- 2 Tbsps mace
- 2 Tbsps cinnamon
- 2 nutmegs, powdered
- 1/2 pint brandy & wine, mixed
Cream the butter and sugar together. Sift in the flour gradually and cream them together. Stir the spices into the mixture.
Add the raisins, citron and currants gradually and then the mixed brandy and wine.
Bake in a slow oven at 300°F until done.
