Fig Cake

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 8 egg whites, beaten to a stiff froth
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsps baking powder
  • Figs, cut up
  • Vanilla extract
Cream the butter and sugar together. Add milk and beaten egg whites. Sift the flour thoroughly with the baking powder. Add to the mixture. Boil the cut up figs until a syrup is formed. Spread when cool. Flavor cake and frosting with vanilla. Spread figs between layers.
