Entire Wheat & Flour Bread

  • 1 cup scalded milk
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 Tbsps shortening, either beef drippings, butter or lard may be used
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsps molasses
  • 1 yeast cake, dissolved in 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 1/2 tsps salt
  • 3 cups entire wheat flour
  • 3 cups flour
Prepare and bake the same as water and milk bread (see Water Bread recipe.) The dough should be kneaded lightly, and if handled quickly, will not stick to the board.
