Custard for Jelly Cake
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 1/2 pint milk
- 1 ounce butter
- Vanilla extract
Put the milk in a saucepan on the stove. When it boils, stir in the rest of the ingredients which have been beaten all together. Let it boil for a minute, stirring all the time. Flavor with vanilla. When cold, it is ready to spread between the layers of the cake.
