Custard Filling
- 1/2 pint milk
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1 egg yolk
- Sugar
- Juice of half a lemon
Boil the milk. Stir in it the cornstarch mixed to a paste with a little chilled milk and the egg yolk. Add sugar to taste. Boil for 3 minutes, then add the lemon juice.
When cold, spread between the layers of cake.
