Cucumbers or other Small Pickles
- 2 gallons vinegar
- 2 lbs sugar
- 3 Tbsps ginger
- 2 Tbsps celery seed
- 1 Tbsp cinnamon
- 2 Tbsps turmeric
- 1 Tbsp horseradish
- 1 Tbsp garlic
- 2 Tbsps pepper
- 1 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp mace
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp red pepper (optional)
All the spices must be pulverized.
Boil the sugar in the vinegar and pour atop the spices. Add the garlic and horseradish when cold. Adding red pepper will improve the recipe.
Boil the vegetables in plain vinegar before putting in the spiced vinegar.
