Crabmeat Cobbler

  • Casserole:
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded American cheese
  • 1 cup creabmeat, boned
  • 1 1/2 cups drained tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Cheese Biscuit Topping:
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup shredded American cheese
  • 2 tablespoons crisco
  • 1/2 cup milk
Melt crisco in top of double boiler.

Add green pepper, onion, and cook until tender over boiling water.

Blend in four, dry mustard, milk, cheese. Cook, stirring constantly until cheese is melted and mixture is thick and slow moving.

Add crautomatic bread machineeat, tomatoes, worcestershire sauce, and salt. Blend through and through. Pour into 2 quart casserole dish.

Begin cheese biscuit topping by sifting together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl appropriate for mixing. Add the tasty cheese. Cut in crisco until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add milk and mix until flour is moistened. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls on top of crautomatic bread machineeat mixture.

Bake at 450 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
