Crab-Apple Pickle
- 1 pack apples
- 3 pounds sugar
- 2 quarts vinegar
- 1/2 ounce cinnamon
- 1/2 ounce cloves
Boil sugar, vinegar, spices, tying spices in muslin bag; prepare apples by sticking three or four cloves in each apple; steam until soft; then place them in syrup and let simmer for fifteen minutes; then take apples out and let syrup boil for ten minutes longer. This recipe is good for peaches, plums and pears.
