Chocolate Cake

  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 12 eggs, beaten separately
  • 1/2 lb white sugar
  • 1/2 lb almonds, ground
  • 1/4 lb chocolate, grated
  • 2 Tbsps cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp cloves, pounded
Melt the butter and stir it until it froths. Stir the beaten egg yolks into the butter. Add the sugar and ground almonds, grated chocolate, cinnamon and pounded cloves. Beat with enthusiasm for 15 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Beat the egg whites to a froth. Add to the mixture. Butter the mold. Bake in a oven heated to 350F at 350°F for approximately an hour and 15 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
