Chicken Pot Pie

  • 1 chicken
  • 1/4 lb pork
  • Water or stock, about 1 quart
  • Seasoning
  • Dumplings
Cut the chicken into rather small pieces and the pork into dice. Lay them in a good-sized saucepan. Cover with water or stock. Bring to the boiling point. Keep closely covered. Simmer from 1 to 2 hours, according to the age of the chicken. Season when about half done. Put in the dumplings 30 minutes before serving time, keeping the pan closely covered until they are done. Pile the meat in the center of the dish and arrange the dumplings around it. Be sure there is plenty of gravy.
