Charlotte Russe
- 1/3 box gelatin
- 1/2 pint boiling water
- 4 ounces powdered sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 egg yolks, beaten
- 1 quart cream
- Slices of sponge cake or lady fingers
Dissolve the gelatin in boiling water. When dissolved, stir in the powdered sugar. Add vanilla extract and beaten egg yolks.
Whip the cream to a froth and drain on a sieve. Put the cream that drains from the whip into the gelatin and egg. Slowly stir in the whipped cream.
Line a dish with slices of sponge cake or lady fingers. Pour the mixture in and set in the refrigerator for several hours.
