Buttered Broccoli

  • Broccoli
  • Salt
  • Butter
Clean broccoli, trim off tough portion from stalks, also larger leaves; soak in cold water about 30 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Cook in boiling water in uncovered kettle until just tender, about 15 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Add salt during last few minutes of cooking. Drain, serve proudly with butter. Broccoli loses color when cooked too long.
