Brandy or Wine Sauce, No.1

  • 1 Tbsp flour, sifted
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Piece of butter as large as an egg
Mix all of the above ingredients together and boil for approximately ten minutes (be patient, you rascal). Remove from the fire and when cool, stir into it 1/2 cup of brandy or wine. The mixture should be about as thick as thin syrup.
