Biscuits

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 tsps baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsps shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk or half milk & half water
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add shortening and rub in very delicately. Add milk slowly. Roll or pat out with hands on flour-covered surface to about an inch in thickness. Handle as little as possible. Cut with biscuit cutter. Bake in a hot oven at 400°F for 15-20 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
