Apple Charlotte

  • Apples
  • Sugar
  • Lemon flavoring
  • Fried bread
Bake the apples slowly at 300°F until done. Scrape out all the pulp with a teaspoon. Put in a stew pan. Use one pound apple pulp to 1/2 pound sugar. Stir constantly until the sugar is dissolved and the pulp stiff. Make sure it does not burn. Add a little lemon flavoring.

Place the apple in the center of the dish, arranging thickly and nicely around it neatly cut pieces of fried bread. Each piece of fried bread may be dipped in apricot jam.
