Angel Food Cake

  • 11 egg whites
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sifted cake flour
Beat egg whites until frothy; combine cream of tartar and vanilla with half cup of sugar, add slowly to egg whites while continuing to beat them; gradually add remaining sugar; fold in flour by hand. Pour into greased tube pan, bake about 1 hour in oven at 350°F.
